Downtown Excelsior Springs is the heart of this great community with a rich and vibrant history.  Today it is still a rich and vibrant part of the community with a renewed interest in the historic buildings through revitalization and the opening of new businesses.  Residents are moving back to downtown in loft apartments and in renovated historic hotels.  Visitors now flock to quaint and unique shops and tasty restaurants along with antiques and entertainment.
